Yohann Sangare and Piero Bucchi - AJ MilanoOne day after finishing as runner-up in the Italian League, matching the team's best finish in 13 seasons, Armani Jeans Milano has set the stage for the next Euroleague season by extending head coach Piero Bucchi's contract for two more years, through the end of the 2010-11 season. Bucchi, 51, also led Milano this season to the Euroleague Top 16 by guiding the team to 5 victories in its last 6 regular season games to overcome a 0-4 record to start the competition. Bucchi had previously headed the bench at Eldo Napoli, where he worked for three seasons. Bucchi coached Napoli in the 2006-07 Euroleague and led the team to the 2006 Italian Cup title. He is among the most respected coaches in Italy, having guided Rimini Basket, Benetton Treviso and Virtus Roma in addition to Napoli and Milano. He also had a brief stint in Poland with Idea Slask Wroclaw in 2001. Bucchi was named the Italian Coach of the Year in 2000 for leading Benetton to the Italian League Finals and winning the Italian Cup.
