MONTEPASCHI: Deal keeps Stonerook til 2012!
Shaun Stonerook - Montepaschi SienaA signature player is returning to one of the Euroleague's powerhouse clubs as Montepaschi Siena and Shaun Stonerook have agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2011-12 season. Stonerook (203, 31) has been a key in helping Montepaschi win three Italian League titles and make a Euroleague Final Four appearance in three seasons as the team's defensive leader and clutch scoring option. In 20 Euroleague games last season, as Montepaschi reached the Quarterfinal Playoffs, Stonerook averaged 6.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and a league-best 2.4 steals. Montepaschi and Stonerook have won their three Italian League titles consecutively, from 2007 to 2009, in one of the most biggest stretches of dominance ever seen in that country. They also lifted the Italian TIM Cup trophy this season, with Stonerook being named tournament MVP. In 2008, they reached the Euroleague Final Four in Madrid. Stonerook had previously played for Cantu in Italy and Antwerpen in Belgium. "I'm so happy to have signed an extension till 2012 and to stay here," Stonerook said. "I stay to win more titles, even though we've won three in a row already, which is something special."
