ASVEL: Bobby Dixon is new playmaker
Bobby Dixon Asvel Basket added another piece to what is shaping up to be a strong roster for the 2009-10 season by signing playmaker Bobby Dixon, who arrives from Le Mans. Dixon comes off a busy season, which he started in Ukraine with Cherkaski and then moved to Italy to play for Benetton Treviso before joining Le Mans. Dixon averaged 7.6 points and 3 assists in nine Eurocup games for Benetton. He then posted 15.4 points, 6.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 12 French League games and 15.2 points, 5 assists and 5.2 rebounds in the playoffs for Le Mans. His regular season assist total was third best in France. The previous season Dixon led the Polish League in assists with 5.1 per game and was fourth in scoring with 16.6 points per outing for Polpak Swiecie. He spent the 2006-07 season in France split between Saint-Etienne and Gravelines Dunkerque. Dixon enjoyed an outstanding college basketball career, first with two seasons at Kankakee Junior College, which he finished as the school’s all-time leading three-point shooter. He then transferred to Troy St. and was named to the All Sun Belt Conference first team after averaging 17.9 points and 6.6 assists per game as a senior.
