OLYMPIACOS inks big man Glyniadakis
Andreas Glyniadakis - Maroussi Costa Coffee Olympiacos made Andreas Glyniadakis its first signing for the 2009-10 season, coming to terms with the center on a two-year contract. Glyniadakis (215, 28) arrives from Maroussi Costa Coffee, where he averaged 7.4 points and 3.4 boards in 11 Eurocup games and 7.3 points and 3.8 boards in 36 Greek League games last season. Glyniadakis grew up with Kydon Chania of Crete and in 1997 was signed by Panathinaikos, where he spent four seasons. Then has also played for Panellinios, Peristeri and AEK Athens in his native Greece as well as Roanoke Dazzle and Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the NBDL, Seattle Supersonics in the NBA and Virtus Bologna in Italy. One of the tallest Greek players in history, Glyniadakis can boast winning the 2000 Euroleague title and the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Greek championships with Panathinaikos. As a member of the Greek national teams, Glyniadakis won the bronze medal at the 1998 European Under-18 Championship and placed fifth at the 2008 Olympic Games under former national coach and current head coach of the Reds, Panagiotis Giannakis.

"I wanted to play for Olympiacos and I feel very happy that it will happen," Glyniadakis said."“The team is aiming to take a step forwards from the 2008-09 season and I am here to help them. It is a great motivation to play in the Euroleague, but the most important thing is the way that Olympiacos approached me. I feel no pressure and I only care about giving the best I can on the floor every night."
