KHIMKI adds size, experience with Javtokas
Robertas JavtokasBC Khimki Moscow region has reached an agreement with center Robertas Javtokas, who inked a two-year deal with the Euroleague newcomers, the club announced Wednesday. Javtokas (211, 29) arrives from Dynamo Moscow, where he averaged 11.9 points on 71.8% two-pointers and 6.3 rebounds in 13 Eurocup games last season. In his two seasons with Dynamo, Javtokas helped the club to reach the Eurocup Final Eight in 2008 and 2009, as well as reaching the Russian Cup final last season. Javtokas, an accomplished defensive big man with outstanding shot blocking skills, also helped Panathinaikos to win the Triple Crown - Greek League, Greek Cup and Euroleague titles - in 2007. He has also played for Siauliai and Lietuvos Rytas in his native Lithuania, where he is a regular member of his national team. In his six seasons with L. Rytas. Javtokas helped the team to win Lithuanian League titles in 2000, 2002 and 2006, as well as lifting the 2005 ULEB Cup trophy, earning MVP honors in the final against Alfa Makedonikos. Javtokas also won a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2007 with Lithuania. "We have been watching Robertas for a long time," Khimki general manager Viktor Bychkov said. "Javtokas is experienced and ambitious, as well as a top defensive player."
