OLYMPIACOS brings in shooter Thomas Kelati
Thomas Kelati - UnicajaOlympiacos reached an agreement with small forward Thomas Kelati on a two-year deal on Saturday. Kelati (195, 26) arrives from Unicaja, where he averaged 11.8 points in 16 Euroleague games last season, his first in Europe's signature club competition. He boosted his scoring average to 15.5 points in two games against the Reds. Kelati matched the record for most three-pointers made in a single Euroleague game when he downed 9 from downtown in a home win against Lottomatica Roma. Kelati previously played for Turow Zgorzelec, where he averaged 14.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 15 ULEB Cup games in the 2007-08 season. Kelati helped Turow to make it all the way to the ULEB Cup Final Eight, losing in the quarterfinals against Dynamo Moscow. In his two seasons in Zgorzelec, Kelati also reached consecutive Polish League finals, losing twice against Prokom Trefl Sopot. Kelati has also played for Dexia Mons-Hainaut in Belgium since finishing his four-year college career at the Washington State University (NCAA). He averaged 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in his senior season with the Cougars. Kelati is the only professional basketball player with Eritrean roots.
