CSKA: Nikita Kurbanov returns from loan
Nikita Kurbanov - CSKA MoscowCSKA Moscow announced on Tuesday that forward Nikita Kurbanov will return to the squad this season after spending a year away on loan at Spartak St. Petersburg. Kurbanov (202, 22) was a member of the CSKA side that won the 2006 Euroleague crown. Always viewed as a top prospect, he played a reserve role for the club for several seasons while also spending time on loan at Unics Kazan, Lokomotiv Rostov and St. Petersburg to develop. Last season he averaged 8.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 21 Russian League games at Spartak under head coach Evgeny Pashutin, who will coach him again this season at CSKA.

"Nikita is a promising player, raised by the Trinta Sports School and CSKA junior team," Pashutin said. "He can play both the three and four positions and he is a candidate to play for the Russian national team. He matured last season, he became more confident, played solid and helped Spartak to win several games in the waning moments. He is very reliable person both in life and on the court. With dedication, hard work and playing time he can become one of CSKA's leaders very soon."

"I am happy to be back at CSKA and to continue to work under Evgeny Pashutin," Kurbanov said. "I would like to thank CSKA and Spartak St. Petersburg for the chance to show myself last season, to prove that I am able to play on the highest level. I promise to continue to do everything possible to perfect myself and to help CSKA to win every game."
