REAL MADRID signs Morris Almond
Morris Almond joins Real Madrid (Photo: RealMadrid.com)Real Madrid added more fire power to its backcourt by inking scoring ace Morris Almond to a three-year deal, the club announced Monday. Almond (196, 25) arrives from the Maine Red Claws, where he averaged 22.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 20 D-League games this season. He had started the 2009-10 with another D-league team, the Springfield Armor, averaging 26.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22 games. Almond has also played for the Utah Flash in the D-League and the Utah Jazz in the NBA since finishing his college career at Rice University. In 2007, Almond set a single-season Conference USA records for scoring average (26.4 ppg), points scored (844) and free throws made (241). That season, Almond was chosen as the C-USA Player of the Year and was a NCAA Naismith Trophy finalist. He also took the Flash to the D-League finals last season.
