Jeff Foote joins MaccabiMaccabi Electra Tel Aviv continued to be an early and active force in the player market with the announcement Friday of its third signing in a week, that of center Jeff Foote, who will make his professional debut this season in the Euroleague. Foote (213, 22) arrives after three seasons at Cornell University, where he won three consecutive Ivy League titles. Maccabi and Foote agreed on a three-year deal that will see him play at Nokia Arena until the end of the 2012-13 season. He joins veteran guard Tal Burstein and forward Elishay Kadir, who signed over the past week, as the team's newest members. Foote is considered a physical and smart inside player with post-up ability, great passing skills for a center and good defensive instincts. He averaged 11.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game as a junior two seasons ago and improved to 12.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game last year. Foote led Cornell to three Ivy League titles in a row, and as a result, three NCAA tournament appearances, including a spot in this season's Sweet 16 round. Foote was the defensive player of the year award in the Ivy League and named All-Ivy League first team last season.
