POWER ELECTRONICS lands Augustine
James AugustineEurocup champion Power Electronics Valencia improved its frontcourt for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague Basketball return in the 2010-11 season by inking rebounding ace James Augustine to a one-year deal, the club announced Friday. Augustine (208, 26) arrives from Gran Canaria 2014, where he played in each of the last two seasons. He was the Eurocup's best rebounder last season, pulling down 7.4 boards per game. He also averaged 9.1 points on 88.2% free throws in 14 games, helping Gran Canaria to reach the Eurocup Quarterfinals. Augustine has also played for Orlando in the NBA and Anaheim in the D-League since finishing his college career at the University of Illinois (NCAA). He helped Illinois to reach the NCAA Tournament final and win the Big Ten tournament - earning MVP honors - in 2005. Augustine was chosen to the All-Big Ten first team in 2006. As such, Augustine completes Valencia's frontcourt for the upcoming season along with Robertas Javtokas, Dusko Savanovic and Serhiy Lishchuk.
