UNICAJA keeps Robert Archibald
As announced by the club on Thursday, veteran big man Robert Archibald (209, 30) will stay in Unicaja for one more season. Last season, Archibald helped Unicaja with his averages of 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 14 Euroleague games. This will be the third straight season of Archibald in Malaga. He played college ball in Illinois from 1998 to 2002 and he then joined the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA. In the 2003-04 season he played in Phoenix, Orlando and Toronto and in 2004 he made his debut in Europe with Pamesa Valencia of Spain. Later that season he also played in Italy with Scavolini as he averaged 10.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in his Euroleague debut that season. From Scavolini, Archibald travelled back to Spain to play with DKV Joventut during two seasons with coach Aito Garcia Reneses. After a successful stint there, he moved to Ukraine to play with Azovmash Mariupol and he then moved to Unicaja, to which coach Aito also arrived in 2008.
