UNION OLIMPIJA keeps Zdovc as coach
Jure ZdovcOver the weekend, Slovenian champs Union Olimpija announced that head coach Jure Zdovc will continue handling the team for another season. Zdovc, 44, arrived in Union Olimpija in December of 2008 therefor this will be his third season with the team. He started his coaching career in 2003 with KK Split and since then he has also been bench boss at Geoplin Slovan of his native Slovenia, Iraklis Thessaloniki of Greece and KK Bosna before landing in Union Olimpija. Zdovc also had a remarkable career as a player staying 11 full seasons in Union Olimpija. He also played in Greece with Iraklis, but his biggest success came in the 1992-93 season when he was the starting guard for Limoges of France, to take the Euroleague and French League titles that season in the only time ever that a French team took the continental crown. He also won two Eurobaskets with Yugoslavia in 1989 and 1991 and also a World Championship in 1990. He also won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympica Games.
