UNION OLIMPIJA lands Goran Jagodnik
Union Olimpija announced on Wednesday the addition of veteran forward Goran Jagodnik for the 2010-11 season. Jagodnik (203, 36) arrives from KK Hemofarm of Serbia where last season he averaged 12.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in six Eurocup games. Jagodnik returns to the Euroleague for the first time since the 2005-06 season, when he suited up for Prokom of Poland. He started his career in his native Slovenia in 1991 with Koper, where he played for three seasons. He then moved to Kovinotehna Polzela, where he stayed for five years until the 1998-99 season. The summer of 1999 he moved to Turkey to join Turk Telekom and the following season he switched teams to Mydonose Kolejliler, but midway through the season he moved to Switzerland to join Adecco Olympique Lausanne. Jagodnik played the 2000-01 season in Russia with Lokomotiv Mineralnye Vody while taking part in the Saporta Cup. In 2002 he started a long stint in Polish basketball when he joined Prokom Trefl Sopot, making a ULEB Cup debut in the 2003-04 campaign. The next season he debuted in the Euroleague and in his two seasons in the competition he averaged more than 14 points per game. In the summer of 2006 he returned to Russia to join Dynamo Moscow Region, but in November of that year he traveled to Italy to join Scafati Basket, but then again, a couple of months later, he was back in Poland to join Anwil Wloclawek, with whom he returned to the ULEB Cup. In 2007 he moved to Serbia to join KK Hemofarm for the first time and in 2008 he was back in the Eurocup, this time with CEZ Nymburk of the Czech Republic. He started last season with Hopsi Polzela but in October of 2009 he joined KK Hemofarm again to be back to the Eurocup. Currently, Jagodnik is with the Slovenian national team getting ready to take part in the 2010 World Championships in Turkey.
