ASSECO PROKOM picks up Wilks, Brown

Mike Wilks signs for Asseco Prokom Gdynia Asseco Prokom Gdynia shored up its backcourt on Wednesday by signing two premier perimeter players: point guard Mike Wilks and swingman Denham Brown. Wilks (178, 31) is an experienced playmaker, who has spent most of his career in the NBA. Since the 2002-03 season, Wilks has played in 233 NBA games for Minnesota, Atlanta, Houston, San Antonio, Seattle, Cleveland, Washington, Denver and Oklahoma City. He won the 2005 NBA title with San Antonio, though Wilks did not take part in any playoff games. He also played for Mobile and Huntsville in the NBDL.

Brown (198, 27), who is currently with the Canadian national team for the FIBA World Championships, last played professionally in the Philippines for the Barangay Ginebra Kings. He has previous European experience in Italy with Cantu and in Turkey with Galatasaray. Brown was a top player for the University of Connecticut team that won the 2004 NCAA championship. He has also played for Tulsa, Dakota and Iowa in the NBDL. At the international level, Brown has represented Canada at the FIBA Americas Championships and is expected to play an important role at the upcoming World Championships.
