Suarez (202, 24) arrives from archrivals Asefa Estudiantes, where he was raised as a player, joining its first team in 2004. Last season, Suarez averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 35 games last season and was chosen to the All-Spanish League first team. He helped Estudiantes to make it to the Spanish League semifinals in 2005 and also reached the FIBA EuroCup semis in 2007. Suarez made his Spanish national team debut this summer but was a last-minute cut and did not make the squad that will compete at the 2010 FIBA World Championships. He helped Spain to win the gold medal at the 2004 European under-18 Championships. Suarez will once again join forces with Sergio Rodriguez, his former teammate in Estudiantes and in the 2004 under-18 winning squad.
