OLIMPIJA inks Perry, Anagonye, Vrkic
Union Olimpija Ljubljana continued its roster building process by adding three more players on Thursday. Veteran playmaker Marque Perry and forward Aloysius Anagonye signed one-year contracts, while forward Zoran Vrkic got a two-month deal. Perry (185, 29) returns to the Euroleague for the first time since the 2004-05 season when he averaged 12.9 points, 3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 14 games for Olympiacos. Last season he split time between BC Donetsk in Ukraine and Besiktas ColaTurka in Turkey. He has also played for Capo D'Orlando in Italy, BC Triumph and CSK-VVS Samara in Russia and Banvitspor in Turkey during his professional career. Perry played for Team USA at the 2005 FIBA Americas Championships.
Anagonye (203, 29) returns to his former club and the Euroleague for the first time since the 2003-04 season, when he averaged 6.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 18 games for Olimpija. He has been practicing throughout the preseason with Olimpija and is fit to step right in. Anagonye played last season for Spanish second division side Autocid Ford Burgos and has also played for DKV Joventut in Spain, Livorno and Montegranaro in Italy and Entente Orleanaise in France. Anagonye played for the Nigerian national team at the 2006 World Championships and at the 2007 and ’09 African Championships.
Vrkic (200, 23) agreed to a short-term deal to help take the place of the injured Suad Sehovic. He arrives from Split in his native Croatia, where he spent the past few seasons. The athletic forward has also represented Croatia at the junior level.
