OLIMPIJA brings Udrih back home
Union Olimpija bolstered its backcourt for the stretch run in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 by signing veteran guard Samo Udrih, who last played for the team in 2003. Udrih (195, 31) arrives from Greek side Panellinios, with whom he averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 assists in nine Eurocup games this season. Udrih joins a Euroleague team midseason for the second season in a row after signing for Cibona in time for last season’s Top 16. The well-travelled guard has played professionally for teams in six different countries. He has played mostly in his native Slovenia for KK Polzela, Lasko, Geoplin Slovan and Olimpija and in Spain for Girona, Granada and Estudiantes. He has also made stops in France, Israel, Croatia and Greece. Udrih is a member of the Slovenian national team and took part in the 2010 FIBA World Championships over the summer.
