Omar Cook - Power Electronics ValenciaEA7 Emporio Armani has turned to a veteran floor general to lead the team on the court next season by signing Omar Cook. The playmaker has spent the past three seasons in the Euroleague and is the competition’s career leader in assists per game (5.53 apg.). Cook (1.86 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Power Electronics Valencia, which he led within one game of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four last season. Cook averaged 8 points, 5.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 21 Euroleague games last season. Those numbers ranked him second in the league in assists and third in steals per game. Among his highlights last season were tying a Top 16 record with 12 assists in a win over Zalgiris. His 116 assists for the season were the seventh most in a single season in Euroleague history. Before suiting up for Valencia, Cook spent two seasons with Unicaja, where he made his Euroleague debut in 2008 and led the league in assists in the 2009-10 season. He was also the 2007-08 ULEB Cup assists king, dishing 6.1 per game with Crvena Zvezda. The New York City native also played for Dexia Mons in Belgium, CSKA Samara in Russia and Strasbourg in France before joining Zvezda. Cook was viewed as a top prospect early in his career. He was a high school star and named a McDonald's All-American before attending St. John's University. Cool later played a total of 22 games in the NBA for Portland and Toronto between 2003 and 2005 before crossing to European basketball. Among his career highlights are winning the 2007 FIBA EuroCup Challenge with Samara and the 2006 Belgian Cup with Mons.
