EA7 EMPORIO ARMANI adds scorer Langford
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan found a go-to scorer in Keith Langford, who has been his team’s leading scorer in each of his three previous seasons in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. The contract is for two seasons. Langford (1.93 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, with whom he came within a basket of reaching his first Euroleague Final Four last season. The scoring guard averaged 10.8 points and 2 assists in 20 Euroleague games with Maccabi. He joined the club after the season started and took charge in the Top 16, when he ranked sixth in the competition in scoring (14.8 ppg.) and performance index rating (16.8). He was likewise a major factor in the team’s epic playoffs duel against Panathinaikos, which the Greens won after five grueling games. Outside the Euroleague, Langford helped Maccabi sweep its other competitions – the Adriatic League, Israeli League and Israeli Cup. He was named MVP of the Adriatic League final four after averaging 19 points on 61.9% shooting and making 10 of 10 free throws in the semifinal and final. He joins former Maccabi teammate Richard Hendrix as the second player to move from the Israeli champs to Armani this summer.
Langford spent two Euroleague seasons with BC Khimki of Russia before joining Maccabi. He led the Euroleague regular season in scoring in 2010-11 with 18.7 points per game. He also helped Khimki win the VTB United League that season. Langford posted similar figures in his rookie Euroleague season with Khimki, in 2009-10, when he had 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists on average. After four years with Kansas University, Langford's first stop in Europe was Vanoli Soresina of the Italian second division. He later moved to the top division to Biella and later Virtus Bologna before making the jump to the big stage with Khimki. With Bologna, he won the 2009 EuroChallenge.
