MACCABI ELECTRA adds Logan to backcourt
David Logan - Panathinaikos_36660Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv bolstered its backcourt over the weekend with the signing of combo-guard David Logan to a two-year deal. Logan (1.84 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Panathinaikos Athens, with whom he eliminated Maccabi last season from the Turkish Airlines Euroleague after a thrilling five-game playoffs series. Logan also reached his first Euroleague Final Four in his fourth season in the competition. He finished the campaign averaging 6.5 points, 1 assist and 1 steal over 15 minutes per game in a reserve role. Logan has played Maccabi well over the years and registered his Euroleague career high in scoring, 25 points, against the Israeli champs on opening night of the 2010-11 season when he led his team at the time, Caja Laboral, to a lopsided home victory. Maccabi will be his second Israeli club after playing for Ramat Hasharon in the 2005-06 season. For his career, Logan has taken part in 75 Euroleague games with Asseco Prokom, Laboral and Panathinaikos and averaged 11.8 points, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. In his Euroleague debut season with Prokom, Logan led the competition in steals with 2.7 per game. In his second season with Prokom, Logan ranked fourth in the Euroleague in scoring with 15.3 points per game, seventh with 41 three-pointers made and 12th with 3.4 assists per game.

Logan played college basketball at the relatively small University of Indianapolis, but emerged as the NCAA Division II Player of the Year. He began his professional career in 2005 in the Italian second division with Edimes Pavia, but after a short stay moved on to Ramat Hasharon. He split the 2006-07 season between Fort Worth in the D-League and Polphamra-Pakmet Starogard in Poland. Logan then stepped up to Turow Zgorzelec, which he led to the 2008 ULEB Cup Final Eight and the Polish League finals. That summer Logan joined Prokom, which he guided to back-to-back Polish League titles. He was named 2010 Polish finals MVP. Last season he added the Greek Cup to his resume. During his time with Prokom, Logan received Polish citizenship and represented Poland at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland.

"We were looking for a combo-guard with Euroleague experience and good shooting ability and Logan meets all those needs," Maccabi head coach David Blatt said. "He is a competitive player who wants to win and to play for Maccabi and we are glad that he has joined us."
