Robertas Javtokas - Power Electronics Valencia_32949After five seasons away, former Euroleague champion Robertas Javtokas is headed home to Lithuania after Zalgiris Kaunas signed the veteran center to a three-year deal late Sunday. Javtokas (31, 210), recently completed his fourth Euroleague season with a fourth different team, Power Electronics Valencia, which he helped get within one victory of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four. Javtokas averaged 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 21 games for Valencia, both above his career averages in the competition. Javtokas started his career in his hometown of Siauliai, Lithuania and by 2000 had joined Lietuvos Rytas, but shortly after suffered a life-threatening motorcycle accident that kept him off the court more than a year. He returned to win the Eurocup with Lietuvos Rytas in 2005 as the MVP of the final. His next stop was Panathinaikos of Greece, where he played a backup role on that season's Euroleague title team before moving on to Moscow for three seasons, two with Dynamo and one with Khimki BC, in addition to the just-finished season with Valencia in Spain. Over the years, Javtokas proved a sturdy enforcer with scoring ability, not to mention one of the best defensive centers in Europe. He joins Zalgiris at the end of the team's most successful domestic seasons ever. Zalgiris also reached the Top 16 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Javtokas was a bronze medalist at the 2010 World Championships for Lithuania, which this summer will host the European Championships.
