CSKA, Siskauskas agree for 2 more years
Ramunas Siskauskas - CSKA Moscow - Final Four Paris 2010On a busy signings day and after signing Andrey Vorontsevich to a new three-year deal, Russian champion CSKA Moscow announced a new agreement with superstar Ramunas Siskauskas for the next two seasons. Siskauskas (1.98 meters, 32 years old) will begin his fifth season with the club this year. Last season he missed several games in the regular season due to injury and averaged just 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Siskauskas started his pro career with Sakalai of his native Lithuania in 1996-97 and in 1999 he moved to Lietuvos Rytas. After that, he left his country to move to Italy to play with Benetton Treviso for two more years until he joined Panathinaikos of Greece in 2006. After one year in Athens, he moved to Moscow and has been there since. Siskauskas holds a trophy collection that few can brag about. He won consecutive Euroleague titles in 2007 and 2008 with Panathinaikos and CSKA respectively. In 2007-08 he was also named MVP of the season and was part of the All-Euroleague first team. He has also been a member of the All-Euroleague second team three times - 2005-06, 2008-09 and 2009-10. Siskauskas was also selected as a member of the Euroleague All-Decade team. He has won national titles with Lietuvos Rytas in 2000 and 2002, Benetton in 2006, Panathinaikos in 2007 and CSKA from 2008 to 2011. He has also been a member of the Lithuanian national team for several years.

"I know Ramunas very well, starting from my time with Lithuanian national team," CSKA head coach Jonas Kazlauskas said. "He played against me when I coached Zalgiris, then he played for me for three years in Lietuvos Rytas. He is a very good player. He proved that in several clubs during his career. That’s why he signed with CSKA. I believe in him. He played great during the last month, but unfortunately missed the finals due to injury. I think Ramunas's experience and the respect he has from his teammates are factors our team needs. I am sure he will help us win."

"I am happy to stay at CSKA," Siskauskas said. “My family and I like Moscow, we like the team. Surely I am glad to be needed by CSKA. I will do everything I can to support our winning tradition. I still have enough power left. Everyone wants to play for this great, famous, ambitious club, and I am no exception to that."
