PARTIZAN extends team's backbone
Serbian and Adriatic League champ Partizan Belgrade announced a major contract extension to several veteran players to secure the core of the team for the next Turkish Airlines Euroleague season. The three extended players are guard Dusan Kecman, big man Rasko Katic and guard Petar Bozic. Kecman (1.97 meters, 34 years old) had an important role last season as starting point guard for the team in 12 of his 16 played games in the Euroleague. During those he averaged 7.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Kecman won the Euroleague title with Panathinaikos in 2008-09 and he also played in Efes Pilsen, Oostende, Makedonikos or BC Kyiv. He started his career with Beopetrol in 1997 and joined Partizan in 2002. Since then, he has had three stints with the Belgrade team until now.
Katic (2.08 meters, 31 years old) will play his second straight season with Partizan, as in his debut year he had 6.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 16 Euroleague appearances. He made his pro debut in 2002 with Zastava Kragujevac and in January of 2004 he joined Crvena Zvezda. He has also played in Turkey and then four straight years in Germany with Tuebingen from 2005 to 2009. In 2009-10 he was back to Serbia to play with Hemofarm Stada in the Eurocup.
Bozic (1.97 meters, 33 years old) is the team captain and this will be his eighth straight season with Partizan. Last season, in 14 Euroleague games he averaged 2.5 points and 1.1 rebounds in over 12 minutes per game. He has won five straight Adriatic League and Serbian League titles. He started his career in 2000 with Radnicki, and he moved to Hemofarm in December of 2001. During the summer of 2004 he joined Partizan and has played there ever since, helping the team make the Paris 2010 Final Four.
