NGC CANTU inks rookie swingman Lighty

David LightyNGC Cantu improved its backcourt for its upcoming Turkish Airlines Euroleague return this season by inking versatile swingman David Lighty to a two-year deal, the club announced Friday. Lighty (1.95 meters, 23 years old) just finished his college career at Ohio State University (NCAA). He averaged 12.1 points, 4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 37 NCAA games last season, in which Lighty was chosen to the All-Big Ten Conference second team. Lighty helped the Buckeyes to reach the NCAA Tournament final in 2007 and the eighthfinals in each of the last two seasons. He also won the NIT Tournament with Ohio St. in 2008. Lighty has been a member of the United States at the World under-19 Championships, winning the silver medal.

"David is a versatile player who has improved a lot over his years in Ohio St," Cantu sports director Bruno Arrigoni said. "He is an excellent defensive player, who will add intensity and athleticism to our rotation."
