BROSE BASKETS keeps guard Schmidt
Brose Baskets Bamberg announced that young guard Daniel Schmidt's contract has been extended for the 2011-12 season. Schmidt (1.86 meters, 20 years old) saw extremely limited action last season at Bamberg, but was a regular for Brose Baskets' vinculated team TSV Troster Breitengußbach in the regional league, where he averaged 6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Schmidt is also a member of the German junior national team and played at the 2010 European Under-20 Championships.
"We are very pleased that Daniel has chosen to remain with Brose Baskets," general manager Wolfgang Heyder said. "In Breitengüßbach he is a leader and key players. We think very highly of him. He is a very smart player and if he continues to work hard next year, he has a good chance to really get into the Brose Baskets rotation."
