OLYMPIACOS picks up powerful Hines
Kyle Hines - Brose BasketsOlympiacos moved to reshape its frontcourt by signing one of the breakout players from last season, Kyle Hines (1.98 meters, 24 years old). The big man dominated off the bench in 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games for Brose Baskets Bamberg, where he averaged 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. He ranked 10th in the Euroleague in scoring-per-40 minutes with an average of 21.8 points. Hines racked up a double-double in one of his two strong appearances against the Reds. He also played a major role in leading Bamberg to the German League championship and was named MVP of the finals after averaging 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks over the five-game series. . Hines was a college basketball star at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he was a four-time All Southern Conference First Team selection and named the 2007 Southern Conference Player of the Year. He finished his time with the Spartans as the school’s career leader in points, rebounds and blocks, while joining an elite list of six players in NCAA history to amass 2,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 300 career blocks. He started his professional career with Prima Veroli of the Italian second division, where dominated for two seasons before moving to Germany. "I am very excited about the agreement. Olympiacos is a club with great tradition and playing for this team is like dream come true," Hines said. "I am sure that we will build a tough team which will be based on togetherness. I am especially excited to have the chance to play for coach Dusan Ivkovic and with teammate Vassilis Spanoulis. I will try to set all the screens he needs to make his life on the court easier."
