BROSE BASKETS signs scorer Jenkins
A veteran scorer is set to return to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, as German League champion Brose Baskets signed shooting guard Julius Jenkins to a two-year deal on Friday. Jenkins (1.87 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Alba Berlin, where he has played for the last five seasons. He averaged 12 points and 3.4 assists in 11 Eurocup games last season, in which he helped the team to reach the German League finals. He helped Alba to win the German League title in 2008 and lifted the German Cup trophy in 2009, earning finals MVP honors in both tournaments. Jenkins also reached the 2010 Eurocup final with Alba. He has also played for Euphony Bree in Belgium and rce Falke Nuernberg in Germany. Jenkins in the Eurocup's all-time fifth top scorer with 855 points and ranks 13th in assists with 144. This will be his second Turkish Airlines Euroleague season, as he played the competition with Alba in 2008-09, averaging 11.5 points in 11 games and helping the team to reach the Top 16. "We were looking for an adequate replacement for Brian Roberts and are convinced that we found the right player in Julius Jenkins. He is athletic, plays good defense and dominates the pick and roll," Brose general manager Wolfgang Heyder said. "He has shown in Berlin that he is a team player, which is critical for a team that wants to do well in the Euroleague. Our fans can look forward to seeing his very attractive playing style."
