EA7 EMPORIO ARMANI inks Hairston at forward
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan agreed to terms with second-year forward Malik Hairston, who played a big role in leading Montepaschi Siena to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four last season. Hairston (1.98 meters, 24 years old) was the Euroleague's weekly MVP after both Games 2 and 4 of the playoffs to lead his former team over Olympiacos and into the Final Four. Hairston started the season slow due to injuries and only played in one game over the first two months of the season, but scored in double figures in five of his last seven games, including a double-double in Game 2 of the playoffs and a season-high 25 in Game 4. For the season Hairston amassed 8.6 points and 3.2 rebounds over 16 Euroleague games and 10.3 points and 2.5 boards in the Italian League. Hairston made a name for himself playing college basketball at the University of Oregon, which he helped win the Pac-10 Tournament and reach the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2007. He also played for the United States under-18 national team. After college, Hairston played for NBA powerhouse San Antonio and for Austin in the D-League.
