FC BARCELONA REGAL lands Huertas
Marcelinho Huertas - Caja LaboralOne of the best point guards in the competition switched Turkish Airlines Euroleague clubs when FC Barcelona Regal announced an agreement with Marcelinho Huertas, who inked a four-year deal with his new team on Tuesday. Huertas (1.90 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Caja Laboral, where he averaged 10.3 points on 44.2% three-pointers, 3 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 20 Euroleague games last season. He helped Laboral to reach the Spanish League finals and the Euroleague Quarterfinals, only trailing Euroleague MVP Dimitris Diamantidis in assists per game. He helped Laboral to win the Spanish League title in 2010. Huertas has also played for Bilbao Basket and DKV Joventut in Spain, Fortitudo Bologna in Italy, as well as for Pinheiros and Paulistano / FMU Sao Paolo in his native Brazil. Huertas has been chosen to the All-Spanish League team twice - in 2008 with Bilbao and last season with Laboral. He helped Brazil to win the gold medal at the 2009 FIBA Americas Tournament, the 2007 Tournament of the Americas, the 2007 Panamerican Games and the 2006 South American Championships. Huertas also lifted the FIBA EuroCup trophy with Joventut in 2006.
