UNION OLIMPIJA tabs swingman Green
Union Olimpija signed swingman Danny Green over the weekend. Green (1.98 meters, 24 years old) arrives from San Antonio of the NBA, for whom he averaged 5.1 points in eight games last season. At Olimpija he will be reunited with former college teammate Deon Thompson. The two helped the University of North Carolina win the 2009 NCAA championship. Green was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Defensive Team and was all-conference third team that season when he averaged 13.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. He finished his career among the Tar Heels’ career top 10 in games played, wins, three-pointers made and blocked shots. He has also played for Cleveland in the NBA and for Erie, Austin and Reno of the D-League.
