REAL MADRID adds size with Ibaka
Real Madrid bolstered its frontcourt for the upcoming weeks by inking power forward Serge Ibaka to a two-month deal, the club announced Tuesday. Ibaka (2.08 meters, 22 years old) arrives from Oklahoma City of the NBA, where he averaged 9.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 99 games last season, helping his team to reach the Western Conference final. Most recently, Ibaka helped Spain to get the gold medal at EuroBasket 2011, playing a key role in the title game against France with 5 blocked shots off the bench. He has also played for L'Hospitalet and Manresa in Spain, as well as for Inter Club Brazzaville in his native Congo. Ibaka steps in to replace Novica Velickovic, who will be sidelined for at least 6 weeks due to a knee injury.
