PANATHINAIKOS picks up playmaker Banks
On the eve of the second half of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season, Panathinaikos Athens added depth to its backcourt with the addition of point guard Marcus Banks through the end of the campaign. Banks (1.88 meters, 31 years old) played last season with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA D-League, where he averaged 17.9 points and 5 assists over 19 games. He left the team in March because of an injury. Panathinaikos will be Banks's first team outside of North America. He played a total of 348 NBA games with Boston, Minnesota, Phoenix, Miami and Toronto over eigth season between 2003 and 2011. His best individual season was 2005-06, when he averaged 12.0 points and 4.7 assists in 40 games – 28 as a starter – for Minnesota.
