Andy Panko - Panathinaikos Athens - EB12One of the oldest Turkish Airlines Euroleague rookies ever is changing teams with the announcement that power forward Andy Panko will join Unicaja Malaga for the Top 16. Panko (2.03 meters, 35 years old) arrives to Malaga from having been a part-time starter in the regular season with Panathinaikos Athens. Panko averaged 9.2 points while helping the Greens reach the Top 16 with a third-place finish in their group. His 4.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists were second-best among Panathinaikos players in the regular season. With both teams in the same Top 16 group, Panko will now return to Athens to face Panathinaikos when Unicaja visits there in the third week of the second phase, on January 10. Panko is familiar to fans in Malaga for having been the Spanish League MVP last season for Lagun Aro Guipuzcoa BC. Panko's signing by Unicaja coincides with forward Carlos Jimenez ending his playing career, as expected, to become an assistant to head coach Jasmin Repesa. Jimenez had come out of retirement this fall to help the club through the loss of another forward, Sergi Vidal, to injury and played in seven games as Unicaja finished second in its regular season group.
