The sides agreed on a contract through the end of the 2014-15 season. Planinic (2.11 meters, 22 years old) has been among the Adriatic League's top players this season. He led the league in scoring with 15.7 points per game on a league-best 65.9% shooting. He was seventh with 6.1 rebounds and third in blocks with 1.1 over 14 games.

"I spoke to Nikola Vujcic and Milan Macvan about it, and I chose Maccabi because of its reputation and because I feel there is room for me to get minutes there. But it is important I continue to work as I have been working so far", Planinic said of the move.

The Croatian national team center has been with Siroki since 2009. Among his career highlights are winning four Bosnia and Herzegovina League titles and a pair of Bosnia and Herzegovina Cups. Planinic has also collected bronze medals at the Under-19 World Championships and U-18 European Championships with Croatia.
