ALBA BERLIN signs coach Obradovic
Sasa Obradovic - RheinEnergieA familiar face is back in Berlin, as Alba reached an agreement with head coach Sasa Obradovic, who inked a two-year deal with the German powerhouse on Sunday. Obradovic, age 43, arrives from BC Donetsk, to which he helped to win the Ukrainian League title, sweeping its best-of-five title series against Azovmash. He also made Donetsk become the second team to reach the Eurocup Quarterfinals and reached the Ukrainian League finals in 2011. Obradovic has also coached PGE Turow in Poland, BC Kyiv in Ukraine and RheinEnergie Koeln in Germany - the team where he finished his legendary playing career. He won the 2006 German League title and lifted the 2007 German Cup trophy with RheinEnergie. Obradovic played for Alba during three successful seasons in the mid-to-late 1990s, winning the Korac Cup in 1995 - the first ever European title for any German team - and the German League in 1997. "I had a very good situation in Donetsk, which I had not given up easily- but a call from Alba changed everything," Obradovic said. "I am really looking forward to coming back to Alba. I love this club, the fans and the city."
