FENERBAHCE ULKER signs Ford Trophy winner McCalebb
In what will surely be one of the most important moves of the summer, Fenerbahce Ulker announced the signing of point guard Bo McCalebb to a three-year deal. McCalebb (1.83 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Montepaschi Siena, where he played the last two seasons. He was the Turkish Airlines Euroleague's top scorer last season with 16.9 points per game to become the first playmaker to win the Alphonso Ford Trophy. He shot with incredible accuracy - making 63.7% of two-point shots and 52.6% of three-pointers - and also averaged 2.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 17 games. McCalebb was named to the All-Euroleague Second Team for the second time in his career. McCalebb played college basketball at the University of New Orleans and made his professional debut with Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi of Turkey in the 2008-09 season. The following year, McCalebb joined Partizan mt:s and led the club to its finest season in almost two decades. McCalebb averaged 13.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2 steals in 22 games in leading his team to its first Final Four appearance since 1998. He also helped Partizan to win the Serbian League, Serbian Cup and Adriatic League titles in 2010 before joining Montepaschi. In his two years in Siena, McCalebb won back-to-back Italian League, Italian Cup and Italian Supercup titles and reached the Euroleague Final Four in 2011. He is also a regular member of the FYROM national team, to which he helped to reach the semifinals at EuroBasket 2011. McCalebb now returns to Turkey to try to take Fenerbahce Ulker to the Final Four for the first time in club history.
