Papanikolaou (2.03 meters, 22 years old) he was a fulltime starter at small forward for back-to-back Euroleague champion Olympiacos Piraeus and was voted the competition's 2013 Rising Star Trophy winner last season. A tenacious floor-runner who has wowed fans everywhere with his fastbreak finishes and come-from-behind blocks, Papanikolaou added a new dimension last season by leading the Euroleague in three-point shooting percentage at 52.1% and was also the top rebounder for Olympiacos, with 4.4 boards per game. The year before, Papanikolaou led all scorers in the Euroleague final with 18 points on near-perfect shooting as he sparked the Olympiacos miracle comeback from 19 points behind with 11 minutes to play to shock CSKA Moscow on the game's last shot. Papanikolaou grew up with Aris Thessaloniki and debuted as a pro with the team in 2008-09 before joining Olympiacos a year later and becoming a full-time in his second season with the Reds, starter shortly after turning 20. He has also won two gold and two silver medals with Greek junior national teams at European and World Championships over the years as a starter on all those teams.
