ANADOLU EFES plans future with Planinic

Zoran Planinic - BC Khimki - EB12_44150One of the best point guards in European basketball switched Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams when Anadolu Efes Istanbul announced that Zoran Planinic has signed a two-year deal with the club. Planinic (1.99 meters, 30 years old) arrives from BC Khimki Moscow Region, where he averaged 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and a league-best 6.3 assists in 22 Euroleague games last season. He broke a Top 16 record by dishing 13 assists in a home loss against Euroleague champion Olympiacos Piraeus. The previous season Planinic helped Khimki to its first European club title, the Eurocup. He scored 19 points on 9-of-11 two-point shooting in the title game against Valencia Basket to earn Eurocup Finals MVP honors. He was also selected to that season's All-Eurocup First Team.

Planinic started his career with Benston and joined Cibona Zagreb in his native Croatia before the start of the 2000-01 season. He has also played for New Jersey in the NBA, Tau Ceramica - now called Laboral Kutxa - in Spain, and CSKA Moscow in Russia. He lifted back-to-back Croatian League trophies with Cibona in 2001 and 2002, won a Spanish League title with Tau in 2008 and a pair of Russian League crowns with CSKA in 2009 and 2010. Planinic won the VTB United League title with Khimki in 2011. He is also a member of the Croatian national team.
