BUDIVELNIK inks veteran big man Lavrinovic

Darjus Lavrinovic - Zalgiris KaunasBudivelnik Kiev added some experience to its frontline by signing former All-Euroleague selection Darjus Lavrinovic on Friday. Lavrinovic (2.12 meters, 32 years old) was an All-Euroleague Second Team selection after the 2005-06 season. He arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas in his native Lithuania, for whom he averaged 8.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. He also helped Zalgiris successfully defend its Lithuanian League crown.

Budivelnik will be Lavrinovic’s fifth Euroleague club after also spending a season each with Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce Ulker in addition to four Euroleague campaigns with Zalgiris. He has also played for Alytus Alita in Lithuania and Unics Kazan and Dynamo Moscow in Russia. Lavrinovic boasts a full trophy cupboard with domestic championships won in Lithuania, Russia and Turkey as well as victories in both the Baltic and VTB United Leagues. Lavrinovic has also been a member of the Lithuanian national team. He helped Lithuania to win the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2007 and reach the Olympic Games semifinals in Beijing 2008.
