Rudy Fernandez DKV Joventut Nothing changed atop the Spanish League standings, as Real Madrid and Tau Ceramica keep tying for first place, each with a 20-6 record. Madrid thrashed Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada 99-79 at home on Sunday. Axel Hervelle led 6 Madrid players in double digits with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, Tau survived a tough battle by edging Akasvayu Girona 77-83 on the road on Saturday behind 27 points from Igor Rakocevic. Barcelona improved to 17-9 and shares the third place with Akasvayu by beating Bruesa GBC 68-76. Juan Carlos Navarro led Barcelona with 27 points while Jaka Lakovic added 16. DKV Joventut stayed fifth with a 16-10 record by downing Unicaja 88-74 in Badalona on Sunday. Rudy Fernandez led the winners with 19 points while Marko Tusek paced Unicaja with 18. Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas needed overtime to down ViveMenorca 91-97 on the road on Sunday. Jackson Vroman posted a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Gran Canaria. In other games, MMT Estudiantes edged Polaris World CB Murcia 83-85, Grupo Capitol Valladolid downed Etosa Alicante 61-73 while Caja San Fernando bested Pamesa Valencia 85-74 behind 20 points from Michal Ignerski.

Real Madrid stayed atop the standings at 20-6 by thrashing Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada 99-79 at home on Sunday. Hervelle paced the winners with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Felipe Reyes also had 15 points, Charles Smith added 13, Kerem Tunceri 12, Alex Mumbru 11 and Blagota Sekulic 10 in an easy home win for Real Madrid, that led 58-41 at halftime and did not find much trouble to add yet another home win. Tau Ceramica had more troubles to edge Akasvayu Girona 77-83 on the road on Saturday. Rakocevic led the winners with 27 points. Tiago Splitter posted a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds while Luis Scola and Serkan Erdogan each had 10 points for Tau. Back-to-back triples by Rakocevic and free throws by Splitter gave Tau a 39-49 margin right after the break. Akasvayu did not give up, however, and managed to tie it at 64-64 with 5 minutes to go. Pablo Prigioni and Erdogan scored from downtown in a 0-8 run that put Tau ahead for good, while Rakocevic had 7 points in the final 2 minutes to seal the outcome. Winterthur FC Barcelona did not find much trouble to beat Bruesa GBC 68-76 and improve to 17-9 in the standings. Navarro led Barcelona with 27 points while Lakovic added 16. Bruesa led 45-38 early in the third quarter, but Lakovic led a 0-15 run that put his team ahead for good, 45-53. Navarro and Lakovic stayed unstoppable in the final period to make Barcelona cruise to an important win.

DKV Joventut stayed fifth with a 16-10 record by downing defending champion Unicaja 88-74 in Badalona on Sunday. Fernandez led the winners with 19 points. Charles Gaines posted a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, Andy Betts had 14 points, Elmer Bennett added 11 and Ferran Laviña 10 for Joventut. Tusek led the guests with 18 points while Marcus Faison had 10 for Unicaja, that dropped to 14-12. Free throws by Gaines gave Joventut a 17-12 lead late in the first quarter, but Unicaja used a 0-14 run that Faison capped with a three-point play to get a 19-26 margin. Seven unanswered points by Tusek allowed Unicaja to keep a 36-42 edge at halftime. Fernandez paced Joventut after the break, while three-pointer by Lubos Barton and Ricky Rubio made it a double-digit game, 61-51. Joventut soon boosted its margin to 78-60 and never looked back. Gran Canaria Grupo Dunas is sixth at 15-11 by edging ViveMenorca 91-97 in overtime also on Sunday. Vroman paced the winners with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Kornel David added 19 points while Jimmie Hunter and Mario Fernandez each had 10 for Gran Canaria. Chris Moss had 19 points for ViveMenorca, that trailed 69-78 with 2 minutes to go in regulation. A 10-2 run that Daniel Farabello capped with a triple tied it at 80-80, while Sitapha Savane missed free throws to take the game to overtime. Hunter, Fernandez and David each had free throws in a 0-6 run that broke the game in the final minute.
