French Cup, preliminary round: March 23-25, 2007
Chuck  Eidson - Strasbourg As usual, the French Cup returned with some big surprises in its second premilinary round. Limoges provided the biggest one by knocking off Nancy 69-63 behind 20 points from Dawan Robinson. Branko Milisavljevic had 13 points for Nancy, that were limited to just 6 points in the final period. Pau-Orthez advanced to the eighthfinals by thrashing difficult Orleans 95-71 at home on Sunday. Melvin Sanders had 16 points for Pau, Britton Johnsen added 15 and Cedric Ferchaud 12. Strasbourg also made it to the next round by downing Poitiers 70-85 behind 21 points from Chuck Eidson. Michael Smith added 19, Claude Marquis had 16 and Sacha Giffa 10. Ujap Quimpert provided another surprise by edging Le Mans 82-80 to make it to the eighthfinals. Shaun Fein led the winners with 31 points. Nebojsa Bogavac had 18 points for Le Mans while Eric Campbell, Yannick Bokolo and Kenny Gregory each added 15 for the guests. Other teams that advanced to the eighthfinals are Clermont, Le Havre, Reims, Chalon, Dijon, Gravelines, Paris and Adecco Asvel, as well as Nanterre, Antibes and Saint-Etienne from the second division and even a third division team, Le Portel, that edged Brest 80-78.
