Belgian League, Game 29: March 24-25, 2007
Sam Van Rossom - Telindus Oostende Euphony Bree provided the biggest surprise in the Belgian League this weekend by edging Spirou Charleroi 91-87 at home on Saturday. Bree improved to 17-12 while Charleroi still leads the standings at 20-9. Ben Ebong led the winners with 18 points while Jeff Horner and Nate Reinking each added 17. Greg Grays had 21 points for Charleroi, that led 86-87 with a minute to go. Jim Cantamessa stepped up with a triple while Kelvin Tolbert dunked it to make Bree seal its win in style. Telindus Oostende stays second at 18-11 by topping Sanex Antwerp G 74-70 at home also on Saturday. Sam Van Rossom led the winners with 21 points, Rashad Wright added 19 and Eric Hicks 11. The game went down to the wire, as Len Matela brought Antwerp within 71-70. Free throws by Van Rossom and Wright helped Oostende to prevail. Dexia Mons-Hainaut improved to 17-12 by beating Verviers Pepinster 74-67 at home. Kevin Houston paced the winners with 15 points, George Evans added 12 and Jamison Brewer 11. Mons trailed 52-61 with 9 minutes to go but used an 11-0 run to get back into the game and used outstanding defense to add a big win. In other games, Liege Basket beat Okapi Aalstar 84-73 while Basket Gr Leuven bested Atomia Brussels 63-68.
