Swiss League, Game 22: March 24, 2007
The Swiss League regular season ended on Saturday with the first five teams in the standings advancing to the quarterfinals, while the remaining six head to play two-game eighthfinals series. In the last games, regular season champ Olympic Fribourg was stunned by Lausannne Morges 81-72 behind Jason Cole's 19 points. The result was only Fribourg's second defeat of the season as the club finished 18-2. Meanwhile, second place Lugano Tigers topped Sion Herens 86-77 as Fernando Fischer scored 22 points. Monthey beat Birstal Staarwings 86-75 through 15 from Yuanta Holland. BC Boncourt downed Meyrin Grand Sacconex 101-89 with Kenyan Block scoring 31 points, while Geneva Devils defeated Vevey 95-76 behind 22 points from Michael Doles. Fribourg, Lugano , Birstal , Boncourt and Monthey qualified to the quarterfinals. The pairings for the eighthfinals, to be played on March 28 and 31 are: Vevey-Geneva Devils, Nyon-Sion Herens and Mayrin Grand Sacconex-Lausanne Morges.
