French League, Game 27: Mar. 31 - Apr. 1, 2007
Nancy stays unstoppable in the French League and keeps leading the standings with a 20-7 record by thrashing Hyeres-Toulon 108-81 at home on Saturday. Tariq Kirksay led the winners with 23 points. Victor Samnick added 16, DeRon Hayes had 15 while Dan McClinton and Branko Milisavljevic each scored 11 points in an easy home win for Nancy, that led 48-36 at halftime and never looked back. Le Mans survived a big thriller by edging Strasbourg 60-62 on the road also on Saturday. Le Mans improved to 16-11 while Strasbourg dropped to 17-10. Kenny Gregory led Le Mans with 18 points. Eric Campbell added 16, Sandro Nicevic had 12 and Nebojsa Bogavac 10 for the winners. Chuck Eidson had 13 points for Strasbourg, Aerick Sanders added 12 and Afik Nissim 10 for the hosts, who led 54-44 after 32 minutes. Nicevic and Gregory fueled a 0-8 run that brought Le Mans back to life, while a three-pointer by Campbell put the guests ahead, 59-60. Bogavac made free throws and Le Mans opted to foul Nissim, who missed his second shot on purpose but Sanders could not send the game to overtime in the game's final shot. Pau-Orthez improved to 15-12 by thrashing Paris 84-54 at home. Aaron Miles led the way for Pau with 16 points, Ricardo Greer added 11 while Britton Johnsen and Michael Wright each had 10. In other games, Besancon downed Roanne 89-74, Chalon bested Reims 74-59, Le Havre beat Bourg 70-61, Dijon topped Orleans 78-68, Clermont thrashed Gravelines 89-62 while Adecco Asvel defeated Cholet 65-78.
