Portuguese League, Game 34: Mar.31 - Apr.1, 2007
CAB Madeira provided the biggest surprise in the Portuguese League this weekend by thrashing mighty Ovarense Aerosoles 93-74 at home on Saturday. CAB improved to 12-18 while Ovarense dropped to 26-4 by stayed atop the standings. Filipe da Silva led the winners with 24 points and Marko Antonijevic added 20. Ben Reed had 21 points for Ovarense, that led 39-40 right after the break. Da Silva allowed CAB to get a 65-54 lead after 30 minutes and the hosts cruised to a shocking win. Porto Ferpinta improved to 17-13 by downing Casino Figueira Ginasio 76-59 at home also on Saturday. TJ Sorrentine led the winners with 18 points, Julian Blanks added 16 and Larry Jon Smith had 15 in an easy home win for Porto, that already led 44-24 at halftime. Barreirense confirmed its good moment by edging Lusitania Angra PM 84-86 on the road behind 28 points from Joao Gomes. Cortney Scott posted a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds for Barreirense while Jaime Silva led Lusitania with 24 points. Last but not least, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor needed overtime to beat Queluz Sintra PM 88-94 behind 24 points from Jason Robinson.
