Terrell McIntyre Montepaschi Montepaschi sent a message that echoed all around the Italian League by downing VidiVici 76-84 in Bologna on Sunday. Terrell McIntyre led the winners with 29 points and Joseph Forte added 22 for Montepaschi, that improved to 22-4 and leads the standings with a five-game advantage over everyone else. ldo Napoli stayed in the playoff race and improved to 14-12 by beating Whirlpool Varese 67-72 on the road on Sunday behind 14 points from Mason Rocca. Meanwhile, Lottomatica Roma joined a three-way tie for the second place in the standings by by beating Benetton 61-73 in Treviso on Sunday. Dejan Bodiroga led the winners with 17 points while Erazem Lorbek added 14 in his first game against Benetton since he left the team for contract restrictions. Angelo Gigli had 17 points for Benetton. Snaidero Cucine Udine dropped to 10-16 due to a 83-79 road loss against Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia while Climamio Bologna moved down to 11-15 by registering an 85-83 road loss against Legea Scafati. In other games, Siviglia Wear Teramo beat Air Avellino 87-75, TDShop.it Livorno downed Premiata Montegranaro 94-81, Tisettanta Cantu bested Armani Jeans Milano 87-77 while Angelico Biella thrashed Upea Capo d'Orlando behind 38 points from Erik Daniels.

Montepaschi Siena stays ahead everyone else with a 22-4 record by beating VidiVici Bologna 76-84 on the road on Sunday. McIntyre led the winners with 29 points, Forte added 22 and Lonny Baxter 10 for Montepaschi. VidiVici led 52-40 early in the third quarter, but a 0-11 run that Baxter capped with a free throw allowed Montepaschi to get a 57-58 edge late in this period. A layup by Andrea Crosariol and a free throw by Dusan Vukcevic gave VidiVici its last lead, 76-74, with less than 2 minutes to go. Forte and McIntyre stroke from downtown in a 0-10 run that Romain Sato capped with free throws and allowed Montepaschi to leave with a difficult road win. Eldo Napoli stayed in the playoff race and improved to 14-12 by beating Whirlpool Varese 67-72 on the road on Sunday. Rocca led the winners with 14 points. Tyrone Ellis and Larry O'Bannon each added 13 while Michel Morandais had 11 for Eldo. O'Bannon shined early in the final period to give Eldo a 54-62 lead with 4 minutes to go. Varese got within 60-62, but Rocca, Valerio Spinelli and final free throws by Ellis allowed Eldo to escape with a valuable road win. Snaidero Cucine Udine dropped to 10-16 due to a 83-79 road loss against Bipop Carire Reggio Emilia. Luis Flores led the winners with 21 points. Jerome Allen and Mike Penberthy each had 21 points for Udine, Damon Williams added 13 and Jacob Jaacks 11. Free throws by Allen gave Udine a 72-76 lead with 2 minutes to go. Reggio Emilia used a 9-0 run to get a 81-76 lead, and even when Allen buried a three-pointer, Marco Carra helped the hosts to put the victory on ice with free throws.

Lottomatica Roma now ties for the second place at 17-9 by beating Benetton 61-73 in Treviso on Sunday. Bodiroga led the winners with 17 points while Lorbek added 14 in his first game against Benetton since he left the team for contract restrictions. Mire Chatman had 15 points and Jon Stefansson 12. Angelo Gigli had 17 points for Benetton while Lyday added 13 for the hosts, who dropped to 16-10 but are 16th in the standings due to a 15-points suspension. Stefansson hit a triple to give Roma a 21-28 lead midway through the second quarter, but Marcus Goree and Lyday allowed Benetton to tie the game, 35-35, at the break. An outstanding Gigli and a triple by Preston Shumpert helped Benetton to get a 53-49 edge after 30 minutes. Stefansson and Bodiroga led a 1-14 run that put Roma ahead for good, 54-63, as Benetton never recovered. Climamio dropped to 11-15 due to an 85-83 road loss against Legea Scafati. Dimitri Lauwers led the winners with 24 points while Rick Apodaca added 20. Marco Belinelli had 20 points for Climamio, Tyus Edney added 17, James Thomas posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Alain Digbeu scored 11 points for the guests. Climamio trailed all the way in the final period, but a three-pointer by Edney got the guests within 83-82 already in the final minute. Lauwers hit free throws for Scafati while Belinelli had the chance to force overtime with 3 free throws. He only made his first attempt, however, allowing the hosts to celebrate a big home win.
