Israeli League, Game 17: April 1, 2007
Meir Tapiro - Hapoel Migdal With defending champion Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv taking the night off to prepare for its upcoming Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs series, the two teams that have handed Maccabi back-to-back defeats clashed in the Israeli League. Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem hosted Galil Elyon and coasted to an easy 115-94 win. Ironi Ashkelon broke an 8-game losing streak with a 99-95 home win over Ironi Ramat Gan in a game that needed two overtimes. The game marked the second time in two weeks that Ashkelon went to double overtime, but after losing 103-112 to Givat Shmuel last time, Ricardo Marsh dominated the paint to the tune of 35 points and 15 rebounds to guide his team to victory. Givat Shmuel kept its distance from Ashkelon in the standings by beating Gilboa/Afula 78-66. The hosts took the lead from the very start and at halftime led 44-29. Boo Davis led the winners with 19 points and recent signings Reggie Moore added 14. Adrian Pledger, who signed for Gilboa/Afula a few days ago from CSKA Sofia, led his team with 16. Bnei Hasharon celebrated a big 109-86 win over Ironi Nahariya. Bnei Hasharon blitzed through the second quarter, outscoring Nahariya 34-14 on the way to a 63-39 halftime lead. Nahariya came back to 79-66 with 10 minutes to play, but Bnei Hasharon woke up in time to secure the win. Cookie Belcher was on fire, finishing with 39 points on 7-of-8 two-point and 7-of-9 three-point shooting plus 5 assists. Lee Nailon added 18 for the winning side, while Juan Mendez scored 30 in defeat.

Hapoel's winning streak continued after an easy 115-94 home win over Galil Elyon. The visitors missed the injured Sasa Bratic and youngster Omri Casspi, who went to the Nike Hoop Summit in Memphis, while Hapoel was without the injured Dror Hagag and Matan Naor. Hapoel finished the first quarter down 24-26, but used an incredible second quarter to decide the game. Jerusalem won that period 38-21and then cruised for the win. Coach Dan Shamir didn't let his players take their foot off the gas and whenever Galil got closer, Hapoel made a run to maintain the margin. Six players scored in double-digits for Hapoel led by Terrence Morris with 26 points on 8-of-8 from the field in addition to 10 rebounds. Horace Jenkins added 19, Meir Tapiro and Mario Austin scored 16 each, while Guy Pnini and Timmy Bowers had 13 points apiece. Kenny Adeleke led Galil with 28 points and Tre Simmons added 18 in defeat.
