Israeli League Final Four, final: May 31, 2007
For the 37th time in 38 years - but no doubt one of the most dramatic of all - Maccabi Tel Aviv is the champion of the Isreali League after rallying in the last 90 seconds to defeat archrival Hapoel Jerusalem 78-80 in their single-game final on Thursday night. Playing on its home court, Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv, Maccabi trailed the entire game and was still down by 5 points, 77-72, with just over a minute to play. Tal Burstein's three-pointer and a layup by Will Bynum quickly tied it. After Mario Austin of Hapoel made 1 of 2 free throws, the clock ticked down almost to the buzzer before Jamie Arnold corrected a Burstein miss with the go-ahead inside basket, was fouled and hit the free throw, all with 2.2 seconds left. It was Maccabi's first lead all night, and when Burstein made a steal on Hapoel's last possession, it was good enough for his team's 48th domestic title. Bynum paced Maccabi with 18 points. Burstien followed with 15, Nikola Vujcic with 13, Sharon Shason with 11 and Arnold with 10. Vujcic had 10 rebounds, too. Mario Austin led Hapoel with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Mier Tapiro scored 14 and Horace Jenkins had 13 points. Earlier, Galil Elyon won the game for third place 90-80 over Bnei Hasharon. Jason Williams led Bnei with 31 points while Tre Simmons was top scorer for the winners with 29 points.

2006-07 ISRAELI LEAGUE PREVIEW
Another year, another challenge for all teams to beat Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv in the Israeli League this season. Maccabi has the biggest dynasty in European basketball, as it won 13 consecutive Israeli Leagues and as many as 36 in the last 37 years! Maccabi is back to be the top contender, even when the league level has risen a lot in recent years. The perennial Israeli League champions landed head coach Neven Spahija, as well as Will Bynum, Rodney Buford, Lior Eliyahu or Simas Jasaitis. The join a group of natural-born winners featuring Nikola Vujcic, Tal Burstein, Derrick Sharp or Yotam Halperin, back in Tel Aviv after a breakout season with Union Olimpija. Sharon Shason, Jamie Arnold and Yaniv Green round a deep roster ready to challenge for every title. Needless to say that if Maccabi does not ends its season with yet another Israeli League title, it can be considered as one of the biggest shocks all around the basketball world. As usual, Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem will be atop the list of contenders to dethrone Maccabi. Hapoel kept franchise player Mario Austin and inked Timmy Bowers, Jurica Golemac, Ed Cota or Dror Hagag. Bnei Hasharon fully renovated its roster with the arrival of Julius Page, Korleone Young, Scott Greenman, Moshe Mizrahi or Erez Katz, while Hapoel Galil Elyon has an interesting roster featuring Tony Stockman or top prospect Omri Casspi. An 27-game regular season will determine which teams made it to the final four, in which the Israeli League winner will be decided.
