French League Final: June 2, 2007
Chorale Roanne is the French League champion! Roanne won its second French League title, its first one since 1959, and earned the right to play the 2007-08 Euroleague by beating Sluc Basket Nancy 74-81 in the title game in front of 14,500 fans at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on Saturday. As such, Roanne completed a dream season, as the team also won the Semaine Des As title, showing it was the best team in French basketball this year. Marc Salyers led the winners with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Dewarick Spencer had 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter, Pape Badiane added 11 points and 12 rebounds while Aaron Harper also posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds for Roanne. Maxime Zianveni had 21 points for Nancy, Cyril Julian added 15 while Tariq Kirksay scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the regular season champion. Spencer had 7 points in a 2-12 final run that allowed Roanne to add a historical win!

2006-07 FRENCH LEAGUE PREVIEW
The French League had a new champion in Le Mans, which upset Adecco Asvel and Pau-Orthez in the elimination rounds best-of-three playoffs to beat Nancy in the single-game title game. The competition system, in which the top 12 teams at the end of the regular season reached the playoffs, allows many teams to upset the so-called favourites in a thrilling way. The competition should be high, too, even when Le Mans improved its roster with the arrival of Sandro Nicevic, Nebojsa Bogavac or Frederic Adjiwanou, who will join forces with Kenny Gregory, Eric Campbell, Alain Koffi or Yannick Bokolo in a very athletic lineup. Pau-Orthez won the regular season last year and is now with renewed ambitions two years after lifting its last trophy. Pau landed Ricardo Greer, John Gilchrist or Britton Johnsen, as well as top prospect Ian Mahinmi. They will join forces with C.C. Harrison, Xane D'Almeida or Thierry Rupert. Strasbourg is ready to shock everyone like it did in 2005 with a brand new roster featuring Lonnie Cooper, Mike Smith, Chuck Eidson, Gauthier Darrigand or Afik Nissim, back in the team after a season elsewhere. Nancy will be one of the teams to follow, as it made it to the French League final in each of the last two seasons. Nancy kept Maxime Zianveni, Tariq Kirksay, Cyril Julian or Dan McClintock, as well as signing Cedrick Banks, Ricky Soliver or John Linehan to build up a highly-competitive roster. Gravelines has a strong starting five with Patch Morlende, Rickey Paulding, Dainius Adomaitis, Rahshon Turner and Uche Nsonwu, while Asvel will try to get back to its glory days earlier this decade with Amara Sy and newcomers Brian Greene, Rowan Barrett, Aymeric Jeanneau or Laurent Foirest. Chalon, featuring John Best, Jermaine Guice and Mamoutou Diarra or Dijon, now with Laurent Sciarra, Mario Bennett and T.J. Lux, may well become the surprising teams of the season.
