Austrian League playoffs, finals, Game 3: June 3, 2007
Allianz Swans Gmunden is one again the Austrian League champion! Gmunden won its third consecutive Austrian League title when it overwhelmed Macabido Gunners Oberwart 88-70 at home in Gmunden on Sunday. Deteri Mayes was again unstoppable for the winners, scoring 29 points. Blake Hamilton followed him with 13 points, while Ian Boylan added 12 and Peter Hutter 11. Gunners got 19 points from Armond Williams. Swans rolle dup 29 points in the first quarter, but Gunners was scoring, too, and the first half ended 49-47 in favor of the hosts. Swans put it all together after the break, using stronger defense to win the third quarter 25-13, taking a 74-60 lead into the fourth and stopping Gunners the rest of the way. Three different players - Hamilton, Mayes and Boylan - also had at least 4 assists each for Swans, who also shot a healthy 85% at the free throw line.

2006-07 AUSTRIAN LEAGUE PREVIEW
The Austrian League comes back with a new dominant team, none other than two-time defending champions Allianz Swans Gmunden, who are ready to establish their own dynasty. Gmunden kept veteran bomber and signature player Deteri Mayes, as well as Peter Hutter or Matthias Mayer. The team added depth and talent with Shawn Hawkins, Adrian Uter or Tyler Newton. As usual, its main opponents will be the Superfund Bulls of Kapfenberg, who are ready to get back to their glory days. The Bulls kept Shawn Ray while bringing back Martin Kohlmaier, Ramiz Suljanovic or Jason Forrestal after a season elsewhere. Damir Zeleznik, one of the best players in the Austrian League last season, turn the Bulls into the top contender to beat Gmunden. Kraftwerk Wels landed Armin Woschank while keeping its core of players featuring Curtis Bobb, Flagan Prince, Richard Anderson or Rasheed Quadri, while the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions will also become a team to consider with players like Joey Vickery, Davor Lamesic, David Geisler or Tomas Oresansky. As many as 12 teams will play a round-robin system and the top 8 will advance to the second round for a second round-robin. The best 4 teams will advance to the best-of-five semifinal playoffs and the winners will advance to the best-of-five finals.
